There has been some confusion on why I need to pay for Drawings AND the certified engineered option. The short answer is YOU DON'T. We use this option as a safe-guard for you, the customer. I will explain each one.
Engineer Certified option. You will want to choose this option if you don't plan on acquiring a permit through your local city our county. We will add the most common extra options called for by the engineer. With this, if the city does cite you, you will already have all the extra options required for your area. If you decided to go with just the bare minimum, and you needed to add extra bracing, the cost would far out weigh the initial cost of the original purchase of the Engineer Certified option. You will still need to purchase the drawings and pay the permit fees, but you wont have to pay a return fee or the extra labor needed.
Engineered Drawings. If you plan on going through the permit process, you will not need to pay for the Certified Engineer option. After the drawings are paid for and received, your order will be updated with any extras as needed, if any.
Generic Drawings- Some cities only require a Generic Drawing. These are stamped engineered drawings with basic construction and foundation work. While these are only $300, most cities will not accept them.
